Medical Lab Scientist I
Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist I Shift: M-F 10pm-630am Pay: $62k-$70k Job Description Medical Lab Scientist I in the Special Chemistry department will be responsible for testing of assigned specimens on the Evening Shift. The role involves sample extraction using manual pipetting techniques, Tecan, and automated technology. The scientist will conduct manual data review of calibrations, QC, and chromatography, and follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results. Responsibilities + Maintain records demonstrating proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens. + Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures. + Review and release test results. + Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines. + Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's acceptable levels of performance. + Identify and correct problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, or notify the senior technologist or supervisor. Essential Skills + Degree in Chemistry with 25+ credits in Chemistry courses including analytical and instrumental courses (Requirement for CLIA for State of CA). + 1 year of clinical lab experience. + Experience with HPLC, GCMS, LCMS. + Experience in research, pharmaceuticals, or toxicology. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Proficiency in chemistry, laboratory, clinical laboratory operations, and CLIA regulations. + Skilled in pipetting, gas chromatography, and liquid chromatography. Work Environment Clinical Lab Environment - Very busy lab with increasing volume. Shift: Nights, Monday to Friday, 10pm-6:30am. Shift Differential: 15% on Night Shift.
