Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist IIJob Description We are seeking a dedicated Medical Lab Scientist II to join our team. In this role, you will perform a variety of laboratory tests to help diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases. You will work in a clean and modern outpatient lab facility, ensuring accurate and timely test results to deliver high-quality patient care. Responsibilities + Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria. + Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures. + Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality. + Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving. + Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls. + Report accurate and timely test results. + Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures. + Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary. + Assist with processing of specimens when needed. + Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology, or meeting local regulatory CLIA State requirements. + 2-4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience. + State Medical Technologist license may be required. + Ability to work independently and within a team environment. + Proficient with computers. + High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills. + Must pass a standardized color vision screen. Additional Skills & Qualifications + ASCP or AMT certification is preferred but not required. + Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus. + Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs. Work Environment This position is located at our Troy, MI outpatient lab location. The shift is Monday to Friday from 9 PM to 6 AM, with every third Saturday from 12:30 PM to 9 PM as part of a weekend rotation. Initial training will be conducted during day shift hours for 1-2 weeks. Our outreach laboratory is a newer facility, very clean, with a lot of natural light from windows. You will also undergo color vision screening and TB screening as part of the hiring process. While ASCP or AMT certification is preferred, it is not required. The lab specializes in generalist work, including chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and coagulation.
