Job Description
Provide quality test results by operating general chemistry, performing manual methods, and utilizing various laboratory instrumentation. Analyze and organize work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling, sorting specimens, checking labeling, logging specimens, and arranging reports for delivery. Maintain quality results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function through routine maintenance and troubleshooting, and calibrating equipment using approved testing procedures.
ResponsibilitiesMonitor test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure acceptable levels of analytic performance.Process and test upwards of 1000 samples per shift.Work with blood and urine samples and perform required testing.Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.Ensure work surfaces are clean and orderly.Essential SkillsBachelor’s Degree in Medical Lab Science or Chemistry.Minimum of 3 months of industry experience in a clinical lab setting.Experience with chemistry bench work in healthcare, specifically with urine and blood testing.Ability to work in a fast-paced lab environment.Capability to process over 1000 samples per shift.Additional Skills & QualificationsEligibility or certification in MLS or MLT is a plus.Work Environment
The lab includes sections for R&D, specimen receiving, chemistry, and microbiology. Training hours are Monday to Friday, starting at 6:30am/7am and ending at 3:30pm/4pm. The night shift runs from 10:30pm to 7am, Monday to Friday, with rotating Saturdays. The facility includes an office building with a call center, laboratory, and clerical center. The dress code requires long pants, a T-shirt, and closed-toed shoes, with lab coats provided for handling specimens.
Pay Rate: $25-36/hr
