Medical Laboratory Scientist

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of high complexity laboratory test results with minimal supervision. CLS personnel are capable of performing pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical duties including specimen evaluation, data analysis, and instrument maintenance and problem resolution. They often work with acute-care and outpatient caregivers, along with other Laboratory Services staff in performing their duties.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree. Coursework/Training: 16 semesters or equivalent quarter units of chemistry, which must include clinical chemistry, OR analytical chemistry. Coursework/Training: 18 semester or equivalent quarter units of biology, which must include hematology, immunology, and medical microbiology. Coursework/Training: 3 semester or equivalent quarter units of physics (light and electricity). California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License California upon hire. 1 year Internship - prerequisite to the State Exam.

Preferred Qualification:

2 years Clinical lab experience in a hospital setting.
