JOB SUMMARY

\n

The Med Lab Scientist 2 performs and monitors a full range of laboratory testing and research. Assumes responsibility for problem resolution, quality control, and required equipment maintenance with minimal supervision.

\n

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

\n\nPerforms laboratory tests in compliance with department procedures and all pertinent regulatory requirements.\nFollows quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.\nPerforms instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.\nAccurately reports test results.\nMaintains appropriate inventory of supplies.\nMaintains effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.\nParticipates in laboratory projects and educational activities.\nDemonstrates and educates laboratory methods and technical skills to others.\n\n

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

\n\nKnowledge of laboratory regulations, protocols and procedures.\nStatistical and critical thinking abilities.\nAbility to comprehend and communicate instructions.\nAbility to perform laboratory protocols and procedures.\nSkill in the use of computers and related software applications.\nKnowledge of safety and infection control standards.\nAbility to work in a team environment.\n\n
