Required License/Registration/Certification American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification must be obtained within 6 months from date of hire Physical Requirements Sitting at computer workstation for extended periods. Repetitive motion. Walking for long period of time; lifting of object up to 50 lbs. Shift Various shifts based on needs of department; rotating weekends, holidays and on-calls. Job Summary The Medical Laboratory Scientist/Certified will be responsible for performing clinical laboratory testing in a fast-paced academic medical center. The Laboratory provides services to all aspects of this Level I trauma center and throughout the healthcare enterprise, including solid organ and bone marrow transplant, KY Children’s Hospital, and Markey Cancer Center.
This position will be instrumental in maintaining a quality of service based on accuracy and timely result reporting. This position will be located in the Blood Bank, and testing will include, but is not limited to, type and screen, cross-matching, antibody workup, elution, absorption, antibody tittering, neonatal workup, and component preparation.

Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No Preferred Education/Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent. MT/MLS or equivalent certification. Previous Blood Bank experience.
