Summary of Job Duties:A Medical Laboratory Scientist II in the core section is experienced in laboratory testing in the areas of hematology, coagulation, immunology, chemistry, and/or special chemistry in a hospital setting and performs quality assurance metric studies, training, and competency assessment.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree from regionally accredited university in medical technology, medical laboratory science, or approved biological science
2 years of clinical laboratory experience
ASCP or equivalent certification as an MLS, MT, or discipline specific certification (C, H)
Knowledge/experience with advanced troubleshooting and advanced maintenance on high volume analyzers, training other technologists, checking competencies, performing validations on high-volume and low-volume analyzers, performing CAP and quality control reviews, and doing quality assurance projects
Preferred Qualifications
More than 2 years clinical laboratory experience including 1 year of experience in instrumentation currently in use in the core lab. Knowledge of testing methods currently in use in core lab.
The core section is a 24/7 laboratory including holidays and weekends. Position may require weekend rotation, call, or overtime.

Conduct analysis of blood, urine, spinal fluid body fluids, and other biological samples to determine presence of normal and abnormal components in assigned sections.Perform quality controls or quality check materials and perform corrective action as required. Act as a resource for problem solving issues related to quality control assessment and materials used.Enter test results and other data related to analysis and communication of results into relevant computer information systems or other document archival systemsProvide technical information about specimen collection, sample transport, sample identification, required documents, test methods, and other related technical information to RN’s, physicians or laboratory clients.Use laboratory computer systems to order tests, generate results, generate reports, document results and communications, interpret results, and other lab duties related to inventory, testing method verifications and quality control. Assist IT staff with troubleshooting IT issues and change verification studies.
