Position: Medical Laboratory ScientistLocation: Swedish HospitalFull Time/Part Time: Full TimeHours: Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm, e/o weekend and rotating holidays

A Brief Overview:
The Medical Technologist performs various bacteriological, molecular, parasitological and immunological tests on blood and body fluids to provide data on the diagnosis, cause, and progression of disease.

What you will do:

Performs various bacteriological, molecular, immunological, and parasitological tests to provide data on cause and progress of disease.Performs gram stains and routine kit testing.Reviews test results for accuracy and notifies appropriate clinical personnel of all critical results. Documents this notification per established protocols.Recognizes abnormal or unusual test results and makes appropriate decision about releasing those results. Notifies supervisor or pathologist if necessary.Performs routine and advanced maintenance procedures on all instrumentation they operate, according to schedule and procedure and documents appropriately.Assists with the education and training of MT/MLT students, Fellows or Residents when assigned by Supervisor/Manager or Director.Maintains adequate level of supplies, restocks as needed, and notifies supervisor of inventory needs; checks in and documents use of new reagents as needed.Performs all Quality Control, Quality Assurance and instrument function checks.

What you will need:

Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory/Biological science or Associates Degree in Medical Technology Required2 Years experience in a comparable healthcare setting of moderate to high complexity testing beyond POC/Waived testing with an achieved competency level of a Laboratory Associate preferred.Certified Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) -ASCP or AMT preferred
