Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will follow be able to follow general laboratory procedures while working the bench, while also effectively managing a large team of lab professionals. This role involves performing specimen analysis in Chemistry, Hematology, and Immunology, maintaining laboratory equipment, adhering to quality control policies, and participating in proficiency testing.

ResponsibilitiesFollow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient result records.Send specimens to reference laboratories for testing not performed in-house.Process incoming orders for lab testing, including reference laboratory specimens.Perform specimen analysis for Chemistry, Hematology, and Immunology.Maintain and operate all laboratory equipment.Perform daily, weekly, and monthly instrument maintenance.Adhere to quality control policies and document all QC activities, calibrations, and instrument maintenance.Record lot numbers of controls, calibrators, and reagents.Participate in proficiency testing by performing sample analysis and reporting results annually.Prepare peripheral blood smears and perform complete WBC differential.Perform microscopic examination of urinary sediment.Record results on appropriate worksheets and computer systems, and perform file maintenance.Process specimens for send-out testing.Follow laboratory policies when test systems are not within acceptable performance levels.Identify and correct problems affecting test performance or notify the supervisor.Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance levels.Maintain proper documentation as described by the quality assurance program.Verify all critical results and document accurate follow-up.Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and ensure viability before use.Prepare reagents, stains, and other chemical solutions as needed.Restock the laboratory area as needed.Process in-house and incoming results for charting.Chart patient results in a timely manner.Essential SkillsASCP or AMT Certification.Minimum of 5 years of experience preferred.Generalist with expertise in various laboratory tests.Previous supervising experience of at least 1 year.Additional Skills & QualificationsCompletion of an accredited Medical Technologist program resulting in a Bachelor's Degree.Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the Board of Registry of American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).Work Environment

This role operates in a structured environment with a shift schedule from Monday to Friday, starting between 7am-9am and ending between 3:30pm-5:30pm. There are no weekend or night shifts. The supervisor will manage up to 26 individuals with varying backgrounds and personalities. The position requires travel to multiple locations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $85000.00
