Medical Laboratory Tech (FT Days) - Clarendon

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.  

The Medical Laboratory Scientist analyzes biological samples in the laboratory. The Medical Laboratory Scientist provides precise and accurate laboratory test results and relays information to the clinical staff to assist in diagnosis and treatment.

 

Collect, prepare, store and/or transport specimens using correct techniques, anticoagulants, and protocol while adhering to Service Excellence standards of Courtesy, Privacy, Respect, Dignity, and Responsiveness/Customer Waiting. Organize and perform analysis of specimens to include quality control while evaluating validity of results obtained. Follows all safety procedures and protocols. Performs routine and pre-routine maintenance. Train and document proficiency of assigned employees/students as directed. Receive incoming phone calls, documents incoming request for blood to be drawn and follow through on collection as outlines in our service excellence standards, telephone communication, personal ownership, and service recovery. Assist in maintaining supplies. Coordinate daily technical activities and ensure tests are complete and accurate in a timely manner by reviewing worksheets, pending logs, and uncollected lists. Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications/Training:

Qualified to perform moderate and highly complexity testing as defined by CLIA 88 Minimum of twelve months training in an accredited school of Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent work experience Must obtain certification within 6 months of hire.

 

Education:

Certification by recognized national certifying agency. Minimum of an Associate or Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or in appropriate biological, chemical, or physical science from an accredited school
