Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician
Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to work with one of the fastest-growing laboratories in the country. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will process lab specimens (including human body fluids, tissues, clinical specimens, and microbiological isolates) to ensure accurate and quality results for patient care. Due to the expected growth in this lab, you must be comfortable assisting in various areas throughout the core lab and adapting to a changing environment with new instruments and testing methods.

ResponsibilitiesPerform and document quality control procedures per lab policy.Identify and resolve quality control or equipment issues.Utilize current medical terminology to perform a full range of laboratory testing and communicate effectively with medical staff.Perform or learn microbiological testing.Test samples using molecular analysis, serological analysis, and the isolation and identification of microorganisms or their antigens/nucleic acids.Evaluate, interpret, and validate lab results and report findings.Maintain an inventory of lab supplies and order as needed to meet testing requirements.Assist in preparing epidemiology and/or statistical reports from compiled data on a daily, weekly, monthly, or annual basis.Maintain competency in all trained areas.Perform related work as required.Maintain a working knowledge of laboratory computer systems.Essential SkillsBiochemistryPCR testingMedical laboratory testingASCP and/or AMT eligibilityExperience working in CLIA and/or CAP certified laboratoriesKnowledge of medical regulations and SOPsExperience with LIMSMedical terminologyMolecular analysisSerological analysisMicrobiological testingEvaluation and validation of lab resultsAdditional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Medical Lab Science or Clinical Lab Science with 0-1 years of experienceAssociate's degree in Medical Lab Technology with 6 months-1 year of experienceASCP or AMT certification in MLS/MLT/CLS/MT (Candidates must be eligible to sit within 1 year of employment)Experience with DxI and DxC or Abbot Alinity H and related analyzers (preferred but not required)Hands-on experience with wet lab techniques, pipetting, and clinical laboratory proceduresExperience with automation and technical equipment such as King Fisher and Quant StudioWork Environment

This position is based in a lab setting in Henderson, NC, specifically in the core lab department of hematology. The work schedule includes Tuesday-Saturday from 4 am-12 pm (Saturday hours may vary) or Wednesday-Saturday 10-hour shifts. The lab environment includes CLIA and BSL2 experience, exposure to medical regulations, and the use of standard operating procedures. You will also gain experience working with LIMS, which is used across multiple scientific industries.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $31.00
