ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Ensure that all specimens have been appropriately collected and maintained during transport before beginning testing.
· Maintain instruments to ensure quality of results.
· Perform and interpret required calibrations and quality control.
· Organize, prioritize and perform laboratory procedures in a timely manner.
· Review lab results and identify illogical or impossible results that need further investigation before being reported.
· Demonstrate the ability to determine if abnormal/unusual results are accurate or are a result of the collection, the specimen itself or instrument malfunction and take appropriate action to confirm.
· Demonstrate the ability to acceptably and accurately report abnormal or unusual laboratory results that have been properly evaluated and accepted.
· Consult Lead Technologist, Lab Manager, or Pathologist for guidance or follow-up when needed.
· Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
