ARIZONA GENERAL HOSPITAL
**Responsibilities**
Follows procedures and performs clinical testing in one or more departments of the laboratory within regulatory guidelines.
+ Performs routine as well as specialized laboratory testing procedures following written technical policies and procedures.
+ Evaluates results on various quality control material and monitors those results to assure proper instrument function and test validity.
+ Before releasing patient test results, evaluates result validity considering quality control results, instrument performance, specimen integrity and prior patient results.
+ Using various computer functions, identifies, labels and tracks specimens, enters test orders and test results, and obtains patient and test information.
+ Follows hospital/laboratory policies to notify and document critical/abnormal test results.
+ Monitors changes in work area to ensure timely release of results and laboratory information. Prioritizes work activities and maintains lab TAT standards.
+ Performs testing on proficiency material from various sources following CAP guidelines, and reviews outcomes with supervisor or pathologist.
+ Monitors reagents and supply inventories, assists in ordering and stocking, properly logs reagents and supplies into lab when received, and follows laboratory policy when putting reagents and supplies into use.
+ Initiates and follows through on actions/tasks. Initiates problem-solving behavior and evaluates outcomes of actions.
+ Completes assigned duties during the course of the shift. Completes work pending reports in a timely manner and resolves outstanding issues before end of shift.
+ Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
+ Performs calibrations, parallel testing, and maintenance as necessary and documents appropriately.
+ Performs routine maintenance on various equipment and instruments in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and maintains records of such maintenance.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ Six months prior clinical laboratory experience
+ Associates degree in a chemical or biological science, or completion of a medical laboratory technician program from an accredited institution
**Preferred:**
+ Medical Laboratory Technician certification (MLT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA) or equivalent as defined within Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)
**Pay Range**
$26.51 - $38.44 /hour
