Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.
1. Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
2. Organize and perform analysis of specimens to include quality control
3. Evaluate validity of results obtained. Record and report results
4. Perform routine and pre-routine maintenance
5. Train assigned employees/students as directed by supervisor. Present formal lectures to Medical Technology students or formal in-service to employee/student or guests
6. Develop personal knowledge of trends, developments, and techniques through journals and trade publications, in-service programs, and continuing education.
7. Collect, prepare, store and/or transport specimens using correct techniques, anticoagulants, and protocol
8. Assist in maintaining supplies
9. Review worksheet status, technical inquiry, uncollected tests and printed worksheets for technical and clerical accuracy and assure necessary corrections to appropriate records are made
10. When assigned coordinates and supervises daily technical activities
11. Analyze processes of highly complex testing to validate results and quality assurance.
12. Teaching as assigned:
Precept new employee or student
Present in-service to staff, students, or guests
Present formal lecture to Medical Technology students
Qualifications /Training:
• Minimum of twelve months training in accredited school of medical technology or equivalent work experience.
• Must obtain certification within 6 months of hire
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:
• Certified by a recognized certification agency
• Minimum of an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or 60 semester hours academic credit from accredited college/university
