Medical Oncology is looking for a Charge Nurse to join the team!

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: Works under the supervision of the Clinical Manager. The Charge Nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and supervises individual patient care on a nursing unit according to policies and procedures while maintaining standards of the State Nurse Practice Act. The Charge Nurse assists in the day to day planning, organization, and directing. All the criteria-based duties and standards within this document will be performed according to the policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Medical Center. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accountable for all Registered Nurse duties and responsibilities as well as the following duties and responsibilities.Demonstrates knowledge of unit standards of care, staff competencies, and individual patient care needs in facilitation proper patient placement and patient care assignments.Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, including care coordination, physicians, and management, using and promoting effective communication strategies to meet inter-and intra-departmental needs.Actively role models and coaches the behaviors associated with leadership and assist others in developing their skills and knowledge. Successfully completes the defined job specific competencies, including competencies for age specific, as appropriate.
Qualifications

Education: Nursing degree from an approved school of nursing; BSN preferred.  

Licensure: Licensed to practice registered nursing in the state of ND or in a compact state. Successful completion of Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy Biotherapy Course with renewal course as required.

Experience: At least two (2) years clinical experience within specialty area preferred. 


Skills: Demonstrates ability to organize personnel assignments and activities for others for the overall benefit of the unit.Working knowledge of clinical skills in delivery of patient care. Demonstrates proficiency in unit and the ability to function efficiently during crisis. Basic Life Support Certification within the orientation period and meets re-certification as required.
