Why work as a Nurse Navigator?

The Medical Oncology Nurse Navigator is responsible and accountable for coordinating the clinical care of patients in the Cancer Center for medical oncology practice:

works closely with medical oncologists and other members of the interdisciplinary team to promote a coordinated approach to care; provides continuity for the patient in navigating the patient through the continuum of care. participates in program development and quality initiatives, Functions as the patient advocate and liaison with inpatient and outpatient members of the treatment team. Provides clinical collaboration with the staff nurses, provides support for clinical problems, educates staff to foster evidence-based clinical practice, and works with manager to facilitate nursing practice and quality patient care. Acts as a mentor to the Triage Office, telephone triage role, and off campus satellites.  The  Nurse Navigator serves as a link between the patient, the physician and services that will be needed, providing education, support and resources for the cancer patient and family members. The Nurse Navigator functions in accordance with professional practice standards as set forth by the American Nurses Association, PA Nurse Practice Act, regulatory standards and MLH policies and procedures.

Position: Medical Oncology Nurse Navigator
Shift: Nine 8hr shifts every two weeks: 8am-4:30pm

Experience:
 1.1+ year(s) of recent Oncology Nurse experience preferred

Education:
1. BSN required, MSN preferred.

Licensures/Certifications:

1. PA RN license OR a multi-state license verified in one of the approved states through the Nursing Licensure Compact.
2. Provider BLS (American Heart Assoc/American Red Cross) preferred.

3.Current certification in oncology nursing by ONS preferred within two (2) years of hire date
