Medical Physicist
Medical Physicist Position summary We are seeking a candidate with a medical physics research and development background who will play a critical role in defining and implementing characterization, calibration and test procedures and experiments for our revolutionary radiation therapy system. It is likely that there will be significant design and development input from the candidate to the overall system design as a result of learnings from these procedures. The candidate will also collaborate with academic institutions on research endeavors to demonstrate the clinical possibilities of PET-guided radiation therapy, which will ideally result in scientific abstracts and papers in leading clinical society meetings and journals. Roles and Responsibilities This position has responsibility and authority for Defining how the RefleXion system will be characterized, calibrated, tested and commissioned Developing and implementing procedures to assess system performance Collaborating with academic and clinical partners on research projects related to PET-guided radiotherapy, this may include some travel Beam-line modeling, simulation, measurements and validation Modeling of X-ray dose, transmission, scatter and other phenomena with Monte Carlo simulations System-level simulation of PET-guided radiotherapy Helping to refine product requirements Provide physics support to Engineering and other departments Qualifications A Masters degree in Medical Physics or PhD in Physics or similar 2 years clinical experience in radiation oncology OR first-authored studies in peer reviewed medical physics meetings and journals Experience with radiation production, modeling, measurement and data analysis Programming experience in CC, Matlab Comfortable with, or a willingness to learn, all phases of the product development lifecycle including design, implementation, debug, verification, qualification, and transfer The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, at a variety of technical levels, including scientific abstract and journal publications Experience with verification and validation procedures for medical devices Demonstrated ability to excel within a high-energy, small, focused team environment, to maintain a strong sense of shared responsibility and shared reward, and to make work fun and interesting
