Medical Physicist I
Job Details

The Department of Radiation Oncology at ChristianaCare is searching for a highly motivated Medical Physicist to join a dynamic clinical team.

The successful candidate will join a team of 8 medical physicists and 9 dosimetrists to support all aspects of medical physics services, including simulation, treatment planning, machine and patient specific QA services and support for special procedures.  The candidate should possess strong communication skills to collaborate with team members, including physicians, dosimetrists and radiation therapists.

This position is targeting to start in July 2025, graduating residents are encouraged to apply.

The physicist will provide coverage at the main campus including the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center and Newark Hospital as well as satellites as assigned. The selected candidate will interact daily with the radiation oncology team to provide state-of-the-art clinical physics services for external beam and brachytherapy.

Clinical services provided across ChristianaCare campuses include conventional 3D, IMRT/VMAT, SGRT, a robust SBRT/SRS program and an Adaptive Radiation Therapy program.   ChristianaCare has a busy HDR brachytherapy program utilizing an ElektaFlexitron afterloader and Oncentra Brachy treatment planning.  A dedicated CT scanner is located within the department for image guided brachytherapy treatment. LDR (prostate implant) brachytherapy is offered at several sites using CT, MR, and TRUS for simulation and Variseed for treatment planning.  At the main cancer center campus there are 3 Elekta accelerators (2 Infinity linacs and a Versa equipped with Hexapod for 6DOF and 6FFF for SBRT), one CyberKnife, an Ethos being installed Summer 2025 and a dedicated Siemens CT simulator with 4DCT and dual energy capability.  The department utilizes Mosaiq, VisionRT, RayStation and MultiPlan. MR and PET/CT imaging is provided for simulation as needed from Radiology Department.    The department supports a CAMPEP approved Medical Physics Residency Program in collaboration with Thomas Jefferson University and hosts 2 full time residents.

Qualifications:

M.S. or Ph.D. in Medical Physics, or related field required.

Completion of residency in therapeutic Medical Physics from CAMPEP accredited residency program.

Board eligible by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiological Physics.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, but Masters degree and board eligibility are required.
