**Summary**
Looking to join a dynamic physics team in a growing center? The Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Flint has is looking to hire. The position is open to all career levels with compensation based on experience so this would be a great opportunity for either a current resident looking for a first post residency position or an experienced physicist looking to advance their career. The position is part of a core team of 3 physicists and two physics residents that are primarily responsible for supporting x-ray physics activities in the Flint center and two nearby satellite centers.
**The Team**
The successful candidate will join a team of 8 physicists, 2 physics residents, 6 dosimetrists, and 4 physicians providing care for cancer patients across a main center and two satellite centers in the Karmanos network.
The physics team collaborates in all areas of patient care and technical duties and the new team member would have immediate opportunities to make significant contributions across the spectrum of physics duties.
**Technologies**
The main center has two Varian TrueBeams, Phillips CT Simulator, GammaMed Plus HDR unit.
One satellite centers recently installed a new TrueBeam and the other center has a Varian 21iX which is slated to be upgraded next year. We offer a broad range of treatments to our patients including SRS/SBRT, respiratory gating, and brachytherapy.
All centers utilize Eclipse treatment planning and Aria record and verify on a common system that is shared with the other Karmanos network sites. Advanced planning features such as RapidPlan and HyperArc are utilized as well as Radformation products: ClearCheck, ClearCalc, AutoContour, and EZFluence.
The Flint site also provides proton therapy through the McLaren Proton Therapy System that has two half gantries, integrated CBCT for image guidance, and a synchrotron-based delivery system.
**Essential Responsibilities**
* Acceptance and commissioning of LINAC
* Implementation of clinical stereotactic program
* Radiation therapy equipment calibration, quality assurance
* Collaboration with clinical and medical staff on simulation and treatment planning.
* Provide ongoing oversight of quality and safety of patient treatment delivery
* Participation in department quality assurance and continuous quality improvement programs.
* Participation in clinical research efforts
* Collaborates in network physics initiatives
**Requirements**
+ _Master’s or PhD degree in medical physics or related discipline._
+ Board Certified or eligible forcertification in therapeutic medical physics fromAmerican Board of Radiology(ABR) or equivalent certification
+ Two or more years of prior work experience as a Medical Physicist or Medical Physics Resident in full-service radiation therapy center.
