Job Description:

The Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist is part of our Cancer Care & Research Service Line and our Medical Physicist Team.  This team provides onsite support to our Radiation Oncology centers.  The physicist works in cooperation with the Radiation Oncologists, onsite Radiation Oncology Managers, radiation therapists, and dosimetrists to assure accurate and coordinated delivery of all aspects of treatment prescription. Physicists work within the clinical services for Cancer Care and are also participative in relevant clinical trials

**The position title and pay range of this position will depend upon the person's education and if they board certified or not.**

WORK SHIFT

M-F; daytime hours and other as needed

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Master of Science or Doctoral Degree in Medical Physics or related discipline. Must meet qualified expert criteria defined by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and/or state radiation agency.

Preferred/Optional: None

EXPERIENCE 

Minimum Required: At least two years clinical experience in radiation therapy department under the preceptorship of a physicist certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapy Physics or Radiological Physics is required. Experience must include calibration of linear accelerators and other radiation sources, clinical dosimetry of external beams and implant sources, patient setup, and computer treatment planning.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES 

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position.  Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: Must be certified by the American Board of Radiology in Radiation Therapy Physics or Radiological Physics or will obtain certification within five years after employment begins.
