Medical Physicist - Radiosurgery Center

The Medical Physicist provides a high standard of clinical physics services through special competence in the field of clinical medical physics.  Develops the techniques used to standardize and calibrate medical imaging and therapy equipment.  Ensures the accuracy and safety of the physical methods used for the routine clinical application of radiation producing equipment. Stays abreast of the research and development of new techniques, physical methods, and equipment.  Actively participates in the development, testing and clinical implementation of new radiation therapy delivery techniques for the Center for Advanced Targeted Radiotherapy (CATRT).  Defines the performance specifications and participates in the selection, acceptance testing and quality assurance of highly technical and costly equipment.  Provides education and training in medical physics for physicians, nurses, medical technical assistants and technical staff.  Participates in patient treatment by the evolution and evaluation of possible treatment plans and accurate record keeping.

Required Qualifications:  

Master's Degree Level 1: Masters in Medical Physics with minimum of 5 years experience in medical physics. Ph.D. Level 1: PhD in Medical Physics;  PhD in Physics with at least 6 months clinical experience in Medical Physics Coursework/Training Level 2: Same as Level 1 plus board certification in therapeutic physics from the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or the American Board of Medical Physicists (ABMP). Medical Physics - Therapeutic Certification - American Board of Radiology upon hire. Experience with acceptance testing, commissioning, calibration and quality assurance of radiotherapy equipment, including medical linear accelerators. Demonstrated experience in radiotherapy treatment planning and intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). 1 year research experience, including six months with advanced targeted radiotherapy techniques.
