Major Responsibilities \n
\n\nAssist in organizing, planning and directing the medical records department in accordance with established policies and procedures.\nMaintain active and discharged medical records with established system.\nEstablish & maintain compliance with recognized system for filing.\nFile information such as nurse's notes, resident's assessments, progress notes, lab reports, x-ray results, correspondence etc. \nCollect, assemble, check & file resident charts as required.\nAssist MDS Coordinator in scheduling assessments in accordance with current facility and OBRA guidelines.\nReview all records to assure ICD-9-CM coding is complete \nRespond to request for medical records copies & provide material in accordance with applicable federal & state laws.\nProvide innovative, responsible healthcare with the creation and implementation of new ideas and concepts that continually improve systems and processes to achieve superior results. \n\n

Minimum Qualifications\n\nA working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, legal aspects of health information. \nOn-the-job training provided in medical record and health information system procedures. \nMust possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or GED. \nCertified as a qualified medical records practitioner preferred. \nDocumented training, supervision and experience in maintenance of medical records and ICD-10CM\/DRG coding. \nKnowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.\nYou must be qualified, compassionate, and dedicated to a job well done.\n\n
