Medical Response Paramedic
Position Title: Medical Response Paramedic Job Description: We are looking for Medical Response Paramedics to join our Salt Lake City team! SALARY RANGE: $58,989/yr. - $94,126/yr. Under the supervision of a Salt Lake City Fire Department (SLCFD) Officer, and the direction of SLCFD’s Medical Division personnel, these positions will provide basic emergency and advanced life support, medical care, and transport to victims of sudden illness and accident upon arrival on scene. The Medical Response Paramedics will not have firefighting related duties. Medical Response Paramedics (MRPs) will work alongside firefighter/EMTs, and social workers (Community Health Access Team) on the Medical Response Team. + The MRP will be assigned to either SLCFD Station 5 or Station 6. + The work week is 40 hours, with schedules of either Mon-Wed or Thurs-Sat. + The first day of each shift is 14 hours (7:30 am - 9:30 pm), and days two and three are 13 hours (7:30 am - 8:30 pm). These positions will be part of the Tier II Utah Firefighter Retirement System. Offers of employment are contingent on successful completion of a criminal background check in accordance with City policy and applicable law. Criminal offenses will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and do not automatically disqualify a candidate from City employment. A paramedic technical assessment, a physical ability exam (TPA-P), and an oral board interview will be administered to candidates at the SLC Public Safety Building as a part of the evaluation process. ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must meet the below requirements: + Must be at least 18 years of age. + Successful completion of paramedic training and maintenance of NREMT certification. + Must satisfy the medical condition requirements of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 1582. + Possession of valid driver license. + Successful completion of a pre-hire physical ability test. + Once hired, all relevant licensures must be always maintained. TESTING PROCESS: + National Testing Network (NTN) FireTEAM Written Exam – 20% + Oral Board Assessment – 40% + Technical Proficiency Evaluation – 30% + Resume – 10% + Task Performance Assessment for Paramedics (TPA-P) – Pass/Fail Salt Lake City Fire Department will also accept valid CPAT certificates in place of passing the TPA-P. METHOD OF SCORING AND RANKING: An applicant’s final score will be obtained by adding the weighted numerically scored portions of the written exam, oral board assessment, technical proficiency evaluation, and resume. The candidates will be ranked according to their final score and placed on the list.
