Medical Scheduler
Description We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Scheduler to join a busy healthcare team in Santa Monica, CA. This is a temporary-to-hire position that provides an excellent opportunity to grow within a well-established medical organization. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, a customer-focused approach, and experience in a medical setting. Responsibilities + Coordinate and schedule patient appointments, ensuring adherence to provider availability and patient needs. + Manage and maintain appointment calendars for providers and clinics, ensuring optimal schedule efficiency. + Confirm appointments and handle rescheduling or cancellations as needed. + Communicate with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to gather accurate and necessary information. + Collect and verify patient insurance details, demographic data, and authorization/referral documents. + Ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines and office confidentiality standards. + Handle inbound and outbound calls professionally and with a patient-centered attitude. + Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) to input and retrieve patient and scheduling data accurately. + Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to manage patient flow and resolve scheduling conflicts. + Address inquiries quickly while providing outstanding customer service with empathy and professionalism. + Perform additional administrative tasks as assigned to support daily clinic operations. Skills and Qualifications + Required: + Proven experience as a medical scheduler or similar role in a healthcare setting. + Proficiency using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or comparable programs (Source: Healthcare SG25). + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. + Professional phone etiquette and the ability to handle high call volume. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. + Knowledge of healthcare terminology, insurance processes, and HIPAA compliance. + Preferred: + Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or other relevant certifications (Source: Healthcare SG25). + Bilingual abilities to support a diverse patient population. + Familiarity with Workday or other workforce management systems.
