General Description:

The Medical Scientific Liaison will support BeiGene Pre-Clinical and Clinical stages medication pipeline development, by coordinating external collaborations, research endeavors with healthcare providers and external academicians while ensuring internal partnership across the organization. The candidate will report to the Medical Affairs Director. The MSL will act as a scientific expert between BeiGene and the medical community through the dissemination and discussion of scientific data. The MSL establishes long-term scientific strategies with leading and influential physicians/scientists and with leading medical associations, as well as academic centers of excellence.

As a leader in the organization, the incumbent will be accountable to develop regional strategies to support enduring and compliant relationships with Opinion Leaders, Research Collaborators & Key Organizations in support of BeiGene medication pipeline development (Hematology). This position will provide pre-launch and post-launch from Medical Affairs support in hematology medication pipeline, Specifically, the incumbent will work closely with internal colleagues in medical affairs, clinical development, program leadership, clinical operations, legal, compliance, new product planning, safety/pharmacovigilance, molecular diagnostics, marketing, sales and translational research.

The incumbent will play a key role in the establishment of BeiGene as a valued collaborator and best-in-class biopharmaceutical company. 

Territory Includes:  MSL position is has a fieldwork base, with periodical meetings at office. The expected territory coverage will include key opinion leaders from main academic centers of excellence in private and public settings in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey for regular visits, but will require to visit other territories eventually, whenever is needed.

Essential Functions:

 

Serve as an internal reference of clinical and scientific information from medical interactions.Provide impactful insights from fieldwork to internal stakeholders, about emerging clinical and scientific trends.Work with cross-functional teams to develop robust territory plans that impact and inform HCPs leading to improved patient outcomes.Establish and maintain credible and trustable peer-to-peer scientific relationships with national & regional opinion leaders in addition to other healthcare providers.Facilitate & monitor strategic partnerships with scientific/clinical experts and serve as a corporative-level point of contact with organizations including but not limited to:Development of Guidelines for Clinical Practice Cooperative groups for disease awareness or health policiesOther (National Hematology or Cancer institutions or organizations, both medical or patients)

Contribute to or perform therapeutic area research as well as scientific activities analysis from competitors.Assist in the development and execution of relevant local, national or international medical meetings, as requested.Identification, profiling and feasibility validation of investigators and sites for company-sponsored clinical trials.Serve as a liaison for the submission and review of Investigator Initiated Trials (IIT) proposals.Support major national and international congresses by engaging thought leaders and obtaining meaningful insights to internal and external stakeholders.Trustable capabilities to provide balanced and accurate information to top formulary decision makers or decision makers advisors in private or public settings.Build strong relationships with internal experts to improve scientific capabilities and general performance.Identify and communicate timely about continuous process improvement opportunities that affects its activities. Development, tracking, execution and timely reporting on goals and objectives.Support Medical Affairs budget planning and management.Be accountable for compliant ethical practices in pharmaceutical business.

Minimum Requirements – Education and Experience:

Healthcare professional (MD, Odontologist, Chemist, Biologist, Veterinarian, Nurse), with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in MSL position in biotech/pharmaceutical companies.

 Having a specialty, subspecialty, master’s degree or doctorate’s degree is highly desirable.

Other Qualifications:

Experience on hematology, oncology or immunology is highly desirable; candidates with exceptional experience in other therapeutic areas may be considered if they demonstrated clear potential to apply their existing skills to hematology.Relationships with relevant HCPs at country level. High level of communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, organizational, and cross functional collaboration skills.Flexibility to work with colleagues in a global setting.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No Direct Reports

Travel:   Able to engage in work-related travel approximately 50-60% (based in Mexico City).

Computer Skills:   PC literacy required; MSOffice skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Veeva).
