The Medical Social Worker is solely responsible for providing medical social work services to patients, caregivers, staff, community agencies, and the organization. The primary objective of this position is to independently implement, provide, evaluate, and enhance social work services delivered to the customer.
BSW from an accredited School of Social Work or educational equivalent. MSW preferred. Training in the medical setting and/or certification, as a social worker is preferred. Excellent communication skills required, with an emphasis on oral and listening abilities. Excellent analytical abilities required. Ability to set priorities is required. Knowledge of treatment modalities and alternate healthcare delivery systems is preferred. Generalist social work experience with emphasis on medical social work. Knowledge of social and health care resources within the community. Familiarity with standards for medical social work practice and awareness of current research and development within the field.
