Medical Social Worker II
**Job Summary:** The Medical Social Worker provides comprehensive clinical social work services for children and their families to assist them in coping with and adapting to the acute and chronic health care conditions of their children. As a member of the Hospital's interdisciplinary healthcare team, the Medical Social Worker assists the hospital in creating an environment and attitude responsive to meeting patient and family needs through understanding psychological, socioeconomic, cultural, emotional and spiritual factors influencing health and illness. This position is located in our SOCIAL SERVICES units. **Position Requirements:** Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Medical Social Worker I: Registration as an associate with the Board of Behavioral Science Examiners. Medical Social Worker II: Registration as an associate with the Board of Behavioral Science Examiners. One year post-masters' experience in a clinical setting. Medical Social Worker III: Licensed by the Board of Behavioral Science Examiners. Thorough knowledge of child and adult development theories and family systems theory. In depth knowledge of developmental theories and issues pertaining to the position's target population. Previous experience in a health care setting, especially pediatrics preferred. Prior experience in a community based organization or social services setting. Skills and Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work under pressure, respond to crisis situations, and to function as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience: **PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:** Sit: Up to 6 hours/day Stand/Walk: Up to 6 hours Bend/Stoop: Up to 3 hours Reach: Up to 6 hours Rep Use of UE: Up to 6 hours Lift/Push/Pull: 25 lbs, over 25# with assistance or equipment This job requires the ability to hear alarms, clients and/or instruction.
