Medical Specialist Job Details Level Entry Job Location Westchester - Tarrytown, NY Position Type Full Time Education Level High School Salary Range $18.00 Hourly Travel Percentage Road Warrior Job Shift Day Description SUMMARY Under general supervision, the Medical Specialist  is responsible for devoting his/her attention to the care and development of the people we support in one of the agency’s residential facilities. Interacts in a manner that fosters dignity and learning in a way that helps lead to greater independence.   Day-to-day responsibilities include but are not limited to: + Makes medical appointments for individuals. + Arranges and/or provides transportation to medical appointments for individuals. + Upon returning from a medical appointment, checks to see if the resident has a medication order, new medication, or a future appointment. + Ensures that medications are ordered, documented on the medication administration form, or discharged as ordered. + Checks medication and medical supplies twice a week to ensure that a five-day supply of medications are on hand and that medical supplies are in sufficient quantity to support the medication program. + Files resident medical records in accordance with agency policy. + Document all activities in the electronic medical record system once you are trained. + Escort the patients to and from the exam rooms and prepare them for the clinician’s visit. + Report pertinent clinical findings to the nurse or clinician as indicated. + Will be required to perform Direct Care duties as well . Qualifications Educational Requirements: + High School Diploma or GED Required Skills: + Driver's License (Required) + Must be a driver and hold a current and clean New York State driver’s license + Prior DSP, Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Assistant experience is a plus + Must be highly organized, able to work under pressure and multi-task + Must be able to remain professional at all times + Knowledge of policies and procedures of OPWDD, as well as all state and federal regulations as they apply to the care and treatment of the individuals + Knowledge of active treatment programs as they relate to the individual + AMAP certified or able to become certified within six months of hire + SCIP certified or able to become certified within six months of hire + CPR and First Aid certified or able to become certified within six months of hire + Must Be Fully Vaccinated (COVID-19) SHIFT AVAILABILITY: Full-Time, Monday – Friday 6am – 2pm Available Work Locations: Bronx, New York and Westchester County
