Medical Staff Coordinator

Key Responsibilities: + Reappointment Coordination: Oversee and manage the reappointment process for medical staff, ensuring compliance with hospital bylaws, credentialing standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, NCQA). + Data Management: Maintain and update credentialing databases with timely and accurate records for all reappointments. This includes review and verification of licenses, certifications, CME credits, and ongoing training/documentation as required. + Compliance Oversight: Work closely with compliance officers and other regulatory bodies to ensure all practitioners meet internal and external reappointment deadlines and standards. + Communication Facilitation: Act as a liaison between the medical staff, credentialing team, department heads, and external auditors. Regularly communicate updates, gaps, and next steps to stakeholders. + Process Optimization: Identify improvement opportunities in the reappointment process, propose solutions, and implement changes to streamline operations and reduce turnaround times. + Record Auditing: Conduct periodic audits of credentialing files and reappointments to ensure regulatory compliance and readiness for accreditation inspections. + Collaboration: Support cross-functional teams in credentialing and privileging activities, including initial appointments and special reviews. Requirements Education: + Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Management, or related field preferred. + Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) preferred. Experience: + Minimum 3 years of experience in medical staff credentialing, with a specific focus on reappointments. Experience within a hospital or large healthcare system is highly desirable. Technical Skills: + Proficiency in credentialing software systems (e.g., Cactus, MD-Staff, or CredentialStream) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). + Knowledge of accreditation standards and best practices (The Joint Commission, NCQA, etc.). Key Competencies: + Exceptional organizational and time-management skills. + Sharp attention to detail and accuracy in managing sensitive data. + Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams. + Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adjust to changing priorities.
