**Job Summary and Qualifications**
The Medical Surgical Nurse Manager provides leadership by directing, planning, organizing, and evaluating the 4th Floor Medical/Surgical/Tele Unit to comply with hospital and medical standards set forth by regulatory organizations (State, TJC, CMS, etc.). The Manager integrates activities into the overall hospital organization, as well as, maintains efficient and effective operations by ensuring the coordination of services provided to the patients, coordination of program activities with hospital administration, and management of budget and marketing functions, in conjunction with the Inpatient Services Director. The Manager displays positive support for the mission and values of Frankfort Regional Medical Center, as well as the entire HCA organization.
**What you will do in this role:**
+ Maintain responsibility for staff performance and accomplishment of departmental responsibilities in accordance with corporate, hospital, department safety policies and procedures to meet company and regulatory requirements.
+ Help create a superior clinical identity by operationalizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes, while ensuring adherence to standards of care.
+ Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
+ Manage all staffing needs and personnel management including interviewing, hiring and training new staff members.
+ Oversee care of patients on unit, providing consistent support and expertise to staff.
+ Perform duties in accordance with unit specific standards of care and evidenced by completion of a competency skills check list.
+ Maintain overall workflow of unit by ensuring proper staff levels.
+ Manage and coordinates all unit activities including safety procedures, unit goals and department operations.
+ Handle patient, visitor, or physician complaints promptly and in a professional manner.
+ Provide leadership, coaching and counseling to department employees.
+ Collaborate with other disciplines and departments to improve patient care delivery.
**What qualifications you will need:**
+ Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required.
+ Bachelor’s Degree required or must be obtained within 1 year of hire date; Graduate Degree in healthcare related field preferred.
+ Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Kentucky or compact state required.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
+ Minimum 3 years of clinical experience required.
+ Previous management/supervisory experience strongly preferred
+ Progressive nursing leadership experience demonstrating solid management is necessary for this nursing position.
