Medical Surgical Technician - Day Hospital/Outpatient Surgery (Full-time/M-F, 1-9:30 PM)

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.  

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education
•    Successful completion of a nursing assistant program or 1+ years of experience in a clinical setting.  Minimum of a High School Diploma/Equivalent from an accredited school or successful completion of WIN Testing or completion of McLeod approved Transition to Work Program
 

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1 - 9:30 PM
 

Responsibilities:

1.    Job responsibilities include those listed in the competency document.
2.    Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. 
3.    Recognizes the normal signs (growth and development of aging) of the patient population indicated above and understands the requirements of assessment, treatment, and care of the specific age group(s).
4.    Initiates and maintains the hygiene/ cleanliness of the patients, the patient's environment, and; but not limited to, the Day Hospital/Outpatient Surgery environment.
5.    Understands and recognizes appropriate storage and safety of medications (such as large volume IV's, alcohol, saline, medications in prepackaged kits). 
6.    Using Service Excellence Standards conducts Hourly Rounds.
7.    Promotes and fosters an environment of comfort and safety for patients and visitors. 
8.    Performs or assists with performing nutritional/ hydration interventions (feeding, providing fluids, H20 or snacks).
9.    Identifies and communicates appropriate patient data to members of the interdisciplinary team.
10.    Collects and records patient related data through the performance of direct care tasks.
11.    Demonstrates continued professional growth through setting goals and participating in Evidence Based tasks. 
12.    Utilizes appropriate health and safety to protect both the patient and staff.
