Medical Technician I - Comparative Medicine (Bastrop, Texas)

This full-time, benefits eligible position is located at the Michale E. Keeling Center for Comparative Medicine and Research in Bastrop, Texas.

SUMMARY
In the Clinical Pathology Laboratory, this position performs general laboratory procedures and associated administrative activities for the Biologics program. Performs various laboratory testing and sample dilutions, reagent preparation and participates in Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Research studies as needed.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Clinical Pathology Laboratory
Receives, processes and ships samples.
Performs various laboratory testing and sample dilutions, reagent preparation following SOPs or manufacturer guidelines.
Performs QC, calibration and maintenance of lab equipment. Operates, troubleshoots and services equipment according to specific protocols.
Under supervision of Sr. Lab Technologist, performs result entering, distribution and communicating to clients as needed.
Prepares orders for laboratory supplies as needed.
Perform other duties as required.
Biologics Program
Receives and processes orders for biological samples and coordinates biological sample collections.
Prepares and processes biological samples for shipment in accordance with shipping regulations.
Maintains accurate records, with direction, compiles billing charges for biological products
Good Laboratory Protocols (GLP) protocols and Research Projects
Completes GLP training programs and refresher training as required.
Performs sample receiving, processing, label verification, documentation, and shipping processes following GLP protocols and SOP's.
Maintains equipment maintenance, calibration, and certification records per GLP and SOP guidelines.
Other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent. Three years of experience in a clinical medical laboratory or similar setting. With preferred degree, no experience required. Experience gained in a university setting is preferred.
