Job Title: Medical Technologist Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Medical Technologist to join our high-complexity testing laboratory. The successful candidate will support various procedures including flow cytometry, blood bank, and molecular procedures within an HLA transplant laboratory. Your role will involve working on immunology samples, performing ABO typing, HLA antibody testing, and other specialized blood bank tests. Responsibilities + Perform routine and specialized blood bank testing, including blood typing, cross-matching, and antibody identification. + Prepare blood components for transfusion and ensure proper labeling and storage. + Conduct quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results. + Maintain accurate records of all tests and procedures performed. + Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure the appropriate use of blood products. + Participate in the development and implementation of new testing procedures and protocols. + Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards. + Work with blood or tissue samples, including red or yellow tubes and spleen or nodes. + Utilize FACSLyric for flow crossmatch and LABScan 10 for antibody identification. + Employ Linkseq and Vii7 Real-time PCR for DNA typing and ABO typing using card and tube methods. Essential Skills + ASCP certification + Blood bank experience or extensive generalist experience + Clinical laboratory testing skills + BS in Medical Laboratory Science or life science + 1+ year of clinical laboratory experience Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in histocompatibility and tissue compatibility + Knowledge of flow cytometry and molecular procedures Work Environment This position is on a 4pm-12am shift, Monday to Friday, with a one-hour break, and includes rotating weekends (at least one Saturday or Sunday per month). The training shift is from 8am-4pm, Monday to Friday, with a one-hour break, and rotating weekends for the first 90-180 days. Testing is performed standing up or on a lab stool, requiring comfort on your feet for long periods. The campus is beautiful with numerous conference rooms and community event displays. There is a large cafeteria with vending machines and TVs for breaks. Each tech is provided with their own locker, and the lab is an open space with lots of windows.
