We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Technologist to join our hospital medical laboratory team in Brooklyn, NY. The ideal candidate will have a New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or a valid permit issued by NYSDOE Clinical Laboratory Technology. While ASCP certification is preferred, it is not required as long as the candidate holds a full New York State MLT license. We are open to hiring newly minted NYS medical technologists.
ResponsibilitiesPerform qualitative and quantitative analysis on all specimens received in the laboratory for the assigned station.Understand the principles of tests performed and maintain working knowledge of the equipment used in the assigned station.Specialize in hematology, responsible for urinalysis, coagulation, and spinal counts.Ensure that all specimens are appropriately stored.Follow all quality control policies and procedures to ensure reliable patient results.Recognize critical or life-threatening results, verify them, and report to the appropriate clinician.Document all results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).Essential SkillsNYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or valid permit issued by NYSDOE Clinical Laboratory Technology.Experience in hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, and reading differentials.Strong understanding of laboratory principles and equipment.Additional Skills & QualificationsASCP certification (preferred but not required).Experience in medical technology and clinical laboratory settings.Work Environment
This position is based in a hospital medical laboratory in Brooklyn, NY, working in the general lab with departments including Microbiology, Blood Bank, General Lab, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Urology. The role involves a night shift from 12am-8am with rotating weekends, and training will be provided on the day shift. The lab is managed by a supportive and strong management team, offering a great working environment, competitive pay, and opportunities for upward mobility and growth. The lab is in the process of being built up, providing a great opportunity to get into the general lab and receive training in chemistry. This position becomes part of the 1199 union once permanent, offering stability and a competitive benefits package.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $48.00 - $60.00
