Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Technologist to join our team. The successful candidate will perform analytical procedures following Blood Bank Laboratory protocols without supervision, ensuring accurate specimen processing, test performance, and result reporting. This role requires proficiency in calibration, quality control, statistical calculations, and an understanding of Blood Bank concepts.
ResponsibilitiesPerform analytical procedures following Blood Bank Laboratory protocols without supervision.Manage monthly laboratory responsibilities with follow-up to the Supervisor.Participate as a member on inspection teams for organizations like the College of American Pathologists, AABB, and/or FDA.Order, accession, status, and report test results on patient specimens, monitoring critical clinical issues.Read and understand written materials such as specimen requisitions, worksheets, and patient identification, both manually and through an information system.Check and verify information such as patient identification, lot numbers, and expiration dates, and take appropriate action.Use, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance.Receive and store Stem Cell Products and/or Human Tissue following appropriate procedures.Review technical and administrative procedures regularly, staying informed about section changes and updates.Handle supply and inventory issues, following laboratory section inventory procedures.Answer telephone inquiries, interacting with physicians and other clinical staff.Follow all laboratory and hospital safety policies, including chemical safety and infection control, using personal protective equipment.Handle hazardous materials using appropriate PPE and ensure hazardous waste is accurately labeled.Train others, including students, residents, and new employees, as assigned.Participate in on-call rotation as required.Essential SkillsB.S. in Medical Technology or equivalent (e.g., HHS examination or ability to meet CLIA qualifications for Moderate complexity laboratory testing).Clinical Laboratory technical skills and stem cell experience.ASCP certification or equivalent required within 90 days of hire.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to provide high-quality results with attention to detail.Excellent customer service skills for interactions with families and colleagues.Professional, friendly, courteous interpersonal skills for interactions with hospital staff, supervisory staff, co-workers, customers, and patients/family members.Work Environment
Experience working with one of the best children's hospitals, contributing to a team that directly impacts patients' lives. The role involves handling hazardous materials with appropriate PPE and participating in on-call rotations as required.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $87360.00/yr.
