Description
The Medical Technologist I will be responsible for performing and interpreting laboratory tests in the Clinical Laboratory. Operates analytical test instruments to ensure that test results are medically reliable and evaluates patients' samples to determine their suitability for examination and/or referral to a reference laboratory.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Performs tests of a more complex nature, investigates and troubleshoots tests and/or system failures requiring judgment and discretion in the application and interpretation of procedures and results.
2. Reviews investigation of events or situations concerning adverse patient outcomes with supervisor and staff.
3. Provides in service training for employees on proper procedures and techniques.
4. Determines inventories of supplies and reagents to ensure adequate, economical levels are available.
5. Trains new employees and/or students, and certifies their orientation.
6. Performs the duties of the Medical Laboratory Technologist I.
7. Assumes department responsibility in the absence of supervisor and manager/director.
8. Develops systems and procedures to monitor and evaluate analytical test instruments.
9. Develops guidelines for patient sample evaluation to ensure that no adverse outcomes occur.
10. Reviews invoices from reference laboratories to ensure that billing are accurate.
11. Assists with department scheduling.
12. Participates in statistical data gathering and projects to ensure that productivity and quality goals are achieved.
Required Skills
1+ years of experience as a Clinical laboratory Technician OR Medical Technologist
Generalist OR experience with blood bank, hematology, microbiology and chemistry
Must have a medical technician or medical technologist certification or license
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $70000.00/yr.
