Technologists accurately, precisely, and safely perform a variety of routine and specialized tests, some of which are complex. Professional application of the principles, theories and techniques of medical technology are used to produce reliable test results. The technologist provides service/care to inpatients, outpatients, to include infants/neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients on a 24-hour basis. Technologists perform phlebotomy and clerical duties as needed. Utilizes accepted quality control, instrument maintenance and quality assurance techniques striving for continuous quality improvement.
Qualifications:
Education: One of the following must be met: 1. Fulfill the education requirements to perform high complexity testing as outlined by CLIA (42 CFR 493.1491), complete an accredited Medical Technology program and be certified or certification eligible by ASCP or equivalent agency or 2. Fulfill the education requirements to perform high complexity testing as outlined by CLIA (42 CFR 493.1491),complete a training administered by Medical Center Enterprise Hospital Laboratory, and obtain ASCP or equivalent certification.
