Job Description
Provides timely and quality clinical information and improved patient outcomes by accurately performing laboratory tests and procedures. Works effectively with others to meet the needs of the patients and care providers. Actively promotes a Lean work culture by performing team member duties to ensure consistent use of Lean principles and processes, including continually seeking work process improvements. Assists leadership team with administrative and technical support to proactively support the efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and to promote a safe environment at Children's.Experience

Assists in monitoring accuracy, precision, and efficiency in the performance of assays and the operation of equipment in the Transfusion, Tissue, and Apheresis Services Department.Assists in the examination of reporting of patient and proficiency results.Assists in the resolution of problems in the specialty area. Obtain additional assistance if necessary.Updates the Operation Supervisor of all related issues.Oversees quality control and implements corrective action when indicated or as assigned.Monitors all performance check systems and preventative maintenance for instruments and equipment.Assists with evaluation and selection of new equipment.Completes applicable training of all employees and students who may rotate or work in the department.Assists with the development of training modules as requested.Maintains appropriate level of supplies and reagents, and if necessary, determines appropriate substitutes.Assists with maintaining current files of reference materials.Administrative

Assists with training, staff development, and competency programs for the department.Provides portions of new employee orientation and staff development.Promotes a cooperative environment between students and staff providing a positive learning atmosphere.Presents practical information to students through various methods such as bench experience, shadowing, handouts, and case studies.Assesses practical abilities by administering exams.Evaluates interactive behavior, theoretical knowledge, and practical abilities of students.Ensures the status of mandatory competency and training requirements are communicated to the Operations Supervisor.Assists with the documentation of competency and training assessment as needed.Instrument and Equipment
As assigned, maintains records of instrument maintenance, whether performed in-house or under a service contract.
