Seven Hills New Hampshire is seeking a dedicated Full-time Medication Nursing Assistant (MNA) to join our team. In this role, you will work under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to administer medications and treatments to stable residential school students, ensuring all documentation meets established nursing standards. You will also be responsible for administering as-needed (PRN) medications as delegated by an RN or LPN. Additionally, you will monitor and address the medical needs of students in accordance with Medication Administration Records (MAR), Treatment Administration Records (TAR), individual education plans, residential care plans, and Health Center policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Medication Nursing Assistant (MNA) Responsibilities:

Uphold Standards of Practice:

Maintain high standards within the scope of practice for LNAs and MNAs.

Medication Administration:

Administer medications under the supervision of an RN or LPN to stable students whose health is under control.Note: MNAs are not permitted to administer injectable medications, perform dosage calculations, or determine the need for medication.

Follow the Six Rights of Medication Administration:

Ensure the right patient, medication, dosage, time, route, and documentation for all scheduled medications (excluding injectables and tube feedings).

Documentation:

Accurately document all administered or refused medications on the Medication Administration Record (MAR) per facility policy and report to the RN or LPN as appropriate.

Medication Room and Cart Maintenance:

Keep the medication room and cart neat, clean, and orderly. Ensure medications are correctly labeled, dated, and stored, and notify a nurse of any expired medications.

PRN Medications:

Administer and document PRN medications as delegated by an RN or LPN.

Controlled Substances:

Count, administer, and document prescribed controlled substances accurately.

Clarify Orders:

Consult with an RN or LPN regarding any orders or treatment regimens that seem inaccurate, ineffective, or contraindicated.

Error Reporting:

Report any known or possible medication errors or unexpected effects to the supervising RN or LPN.

Inventory Management:

Monitor medication quantities, reorder supplies as needed, and handle OTCs and supplements through central supply.

Pharmacy Orders:

Order medications and supplies from the pharmacy, accept medication deliveries, and sign them in (excluding controlled substances which require RN or LPN signatures).

Infection Control and Safety:

Adhere to all infection control and safety protocols.

Vital Signs:

Obtain weights, heights, and vital signs as requested by the nurse.

EHR Filing:

Ensure accurate filing of documents in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.

Parent/Guardian Communication:

Communicate with parents/guardians regarding medication supplies.

Professional Development:

Continuously upgrade knowledge and abilities, stay updated on current practices, and complete 20 hours of CEUs bi-annually.

Additional Responsibilities:

Physical Examination:

Complete a physical every three years as required by child care licensing regulations.

Professional Conduct:

Perform all duties ethically and professionally, support team dynamics, and pursue ongoing professional growth.

Interpersonal Relations:

Maintain harmonious relations, demonstrate tact and sensitivity, and respond professionally to staff, students, parents/guardians, and others.

Constructive Criticism:

Accept and provide constructive feedback in a professional manner.

Qualifications

Medication Nursing Assistant Qualifications:
