Medium Voltage Linesman (OCN) - Cuba
 

This Opportunity

Seeking a Medium Voltage Linesman (OCN) to support our project at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Major duties and responsibilities: 

Serve under the direction of the HV Manager or Site Manager (depending on duty location)  to operate and maintain high voltage distribution network and power plant equipment;  Promote and maintain safety following established safe work practices and procedures; Work electrical teams and line crews to perform routine installation maintenance, and repairs on high voltage switchgear, distribution networks, or diesel power generators; Locate and rectify faults on the overhead and/or underground high voltage networks during power interruptions; Part of electrical teams or line crews to perform routine installation maintenance, and repairs on high voltage switchgear, distribution networks, or diesel power generators;  Work on power cables, transformers, insulators, and control equipment such as switches, circuit breakers, and panels. This includes collecting transformer oil samples that are tested for contamination as well as cleaning up contaminated sites;  Install and connect transformers and make hot taps and splices;  Install underground cable, conduit, and ductwork;  Install transformers;  String lights and power wires on cross arms and through ducts and manholes; make electrical connections; and splice cables;  Erect and replace poles; perform rigging on high voltage motors, transformers, and compressors;Use and maintain various hand and power tools of the trade;May operate aerial trucks and associated equipment.

Essential qualifications:

5 years working with live high voltage networksExperience in the installation, commissioning operation, and maintenance of High Voltage Distribution Networks and associated Hardware and Switchgear; Experience in the switching operations of High Voltage Distribution Networks; Experienced working in international work environments in an expatriate or US military status; Proactive nature and strong interpersonal skills in collaborating, communicating and working with (1) Other senior Berger managers and staff (to include Home Office management team), (2) Local and International subcontractors; (3) Army Corps of Engineers military representatives; and (4) Local officials as required. Fluent in English - Level 3-5 Follow all VGS standard policies and practices 

Desirable qualifications:

Experience in installing and maintaining high voltage electrical distribution networks; Experience in fault finding and rectifying in Underground and Overhead Distribution Networks; Experience with Synchronized Diesel Power Generators; Experience training teams from diverse cultural backgrounds; Experience on Military Bases.
