Job Description
As the Managing Director of MENA, you will report to the VP of Worldwide Business Development & Sales.
The Managing Director of Middle East region Headquartered at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the incumbent has the day-to-day operation responsibilities of the Riyadh site. The Director is responsible for the business growth in the Saudi Kingdom as well as the Middle East and North Africa region. As the regional lead representing Teledyne FLIR Defense, the incumbent will engage with all regional entities, government officials, customers, business partners, end users, US and non-US agencies that can facilitate Teledyne FLIR Defense growth. As the site lead, the Director will partner and/or work cross functionally with the leaders of the relevant areas to ensure site compliance. Those areas may include Facilities management, Safety and Security, Facility Security Officer (FSO), the Environmental, Health and Safety Officer (EHSO) and several critical Business Operations’ responsibilities.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for establishing Teledyne FLIR Defense’s Regional Headquarters in Riyadh that align with Saudi’s 2030 vision.
Primarily focus on the Middle East & North Africa regional growth strategy and driving profitability and growth in the region. Serve as the company’s in country senior representative towards the U.S. Embassy and Saudi government entities as directed by Teledyne leadership.
Serve as the ‘face of the company’ and establish solid relationship with Saudi customers, OEMs and end users.
Maintain current and continuously identify/develop new business opportunities. Support Business Development and Sales in winning contracts and actively work to identify additional sales within existing contracts.
Ensure regional alignment with Teledyne leadership guidelines. Oversee adherence to legal guidelines and in-house policies to maintain the company’s legality, business ethics, global trade compliance, and all required training.
Ensure the site follows all local, state, and federal government guidelines and regulations.
Decision authority on site closures due to weather, COVID, et cetera with Corporate and HR coordination. Responsible for overseeing the facilities group including facility capital budgeting, building overhead.
Ensure regular cadence of holding Site Coordination Meetings which would include representatives from all groups located at that site including any corporate functions, as well any other TDY entities that may share this location.
Adhere to and enforce personnel adherence to the Code of Conduct, Non-Disclosure and Confidentiality policies.
Develop on-going/two-way communications with employees, which is designed to foster a positive employee workplace and reduce unwarranted attrition, to include a variety of methods including TV screens, newsletters, and site-specific town halls. In doing so, address site specific concerns, announcements, and future plans with an emphasis on growth and opportunities.
Support professional site tours and presentations to Customers, Investors, and other visitors as required in conjunction with applicable site safety and security practices.
Act as sponsor, in conjunction with HR sponsor, for overall morale at the site, employee culture run groups, site employee perks, events, etc. intended to promote and foster a positive and inclusive work culture/environment to raise awareness and engagement.
Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines

Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Engineering, or a technology related field.
Essential Arabic and English language skills, including written English-Arabic translation.
Must have local experience and knowledge of Saudi government entities, government procurement practices, as well as an understanding of the same for the MENA region.
Proven experience in business development and executive leadership roles.
Knowledge of Saudi 2030 vision and proven understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory/compliance issues.
Familiar with military equipment acquisition and qualification processes. Experience in technology, defense and/or aerospace environment.
Strong knowledge of MENA Regional Government procurement practices.
Excellent, established relationships in the region, most importantly, Saudi.
High level of emotional intelligence, ability to diagnose issues, even foresee potential issues across every element in the business.
Success in performing in a matrixed organization. Self-motivation to drive the business to succeed.
Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Experience in preparing and delivering presentations. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively to promote collaboration across the business unit and region.
Demonstrated tactfulness, interpersonal skills, decision-making ability, and professionalism.
Excellent computer skills with a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Able to constructively work under stress and pressure when faced with high workloads and deadlines; able to make sound and timely business decisions.
Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% of the year.
Preferred applicant will be a Saudi national to align with the Saudization (Niqaqat) program. In addition, favored candidate will have extensive experience with both business and government entities in Saudi, and knowledge or direct experience with U.S. companies in the Kingdom.
