Job Title: Mental Health Clinician


Job Summary:                                                   

The Young Adult Assertive Community Treatment (YA ACT) team provides mobile community based mental health treatment to promote the recovery and community integration of individuals ages 18 to 25 with serious mental illnesses, high rates of co-occurring substance use disorders and histories of criminal legal system involvement. The Substance Use Specialist is an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team of mental health clinicians. The team provides 80% of its treatment services in community locations. We are looking for a clinician with extensive experience working with young adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. The Substance Use Specialist must be motivated to conduct assertive outreach and engagement, use motivational interviewing and stage-wise interventions that target an individual’s readiness for change. The substance use specialist must be a team player with extensive knowledge of psychiatric disability, individual and group substance use treatment to promote wellness, recovery, public safety and reductions in criminal behavior.


Salary:  The salary for this role is $61,800 per year.


Location Address: 424 East 147th St, Bronx, NY 10455. Our office is easily accessible by public transportation.


What you will be doing: 

Attend and participate in daily team meetings to discuss clients’ clinical and case management issues and needs;Complete documentations required by the NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) and NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s (DOHMH) licensing guidelines, NYS Medicaid billing guidelines as well as per CASES ACT Policy and Procedures;Complete and update comprehensive assessments using results from administration of standardized screening instruments for substance use, suicidality, violence risk;Identify the treatment services consumers should receive based on severity of substance use diagnosis, stages of change, immediate needs and complete treatment plans using a person-centered approach;Collaborate with family, friends, other service providers on consumer’s substance use treatment, post-hospital-discharge care coordination, housing needs, entitlements support, educational/vocational training, social support, primary care needs, etc;Use motivational interviewing, recovery and trauma-informed approaches when delivering services;Complete required documentations and toxicology tests for consumers with active Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) order;Provide 24-hour crisis intervention on-call services on rotating basis;Provide 80 percent of treatment contacts in the community and complete expected minimum monthly treatment contacts, including leading substance use treatment groups when clinically indicated;Provide culturally competent services in accordance with CASES policies and practice.

 

What we are looking for: 

LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, with current New York State license;Additional CASAC credential a plus;At least one year of experience working with individuals with serious mental illness with co-occurring substance use disorders;Experience with various evidence-based models pertaining to treatment of substance use, and mental illness;Extensive knowledge of Assertive Community Treatment, community integrated treatment, support services, and resources;Highly organized and self-motivated;Proficient in computers;Fluency in Spanish preferred.
