Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Mental Health Counselor - Boca Raton, FL.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Provide easy access to high-quality mental health services for FAU Lab School students to help them succeed academically and interpersonally.

Provide intake assessment and time-limited counseling and psychotherapy for adolescents.

Provide group therapy.

Provide clients with community level interventions, outreach and consultation.   

Participate in psychological emergency, crisis intervention and trauma response. 

Provide outreach, prevention, and educational programs for students, faculty and staff.

Maintain confidentiality of mental health services offered.

Lead the implementation of mental health screening tools and universal screeners.

Provide related supervision, training, and consultation to staff and faculty on an as-needed basis. 

Create and deliver mental health parent workshops to support their children.

Establish and maintain procedures and policies for various counseling and support efforts.

Follow FAU CAPS procedures and policies, including documentation of health records.

Engage in professional learning and maintain up-to-date knowledge of strategies and supports.

Follow K-12 statutes for providing, documenting, and reporting mental health services.

Participate in high school meetings and CAPS staff meetings.

Other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in Mental Health Counseling; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Mental Health Counseling and two (2) years of appropriate experience required.

Valid license to practice in the state of Florida under Florida Statute 490 or 491 required.



Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree or higher in Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work from an accredited program.

Have demonstrated history working with adolescent populations in an academic or counseling center environment.

Ability to handle complex crises and/or clinical situations.

Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Strong program development and evaluation skills required for clinical utilization.

Demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice as well as an understanding of and commitment to diverse issues in the delivery and management of clinical services.

Thorough understanding of the issues associated with adolescent practice including HIPAA, FERPA, and confidentiality.

Demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice.

Two years of experience working with adolescents.

Salary:

$60,000 - $80,000 per year.
