POSITION TITLE:                Licensed Mental Health Professional         

DEPARTMENT:                     Worthington Outpatient

GENERAL HOURS      

   OF WORK:                           Full-Time; Daytime Monday – Friday Hours

EXEMPT/NON EXEMPT:    Exempt

SUPERVISOR:                        Director of Clinical Services

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  Provides and assists in coordinating, planning, implementing, supervising, and facilitating outpatient and residential treatment programming and services.  Responsibilities may include individual, family and group counseling, employee assistance counseling, critical incident stress management, administration and interpretation of licensure appropriate standardized psychiatric measures, court ordered evaluations, and community education services and treatment.  All of these areas may involve providing assessment and crisis intervention to acute, chronic or moderately disturbed individuals experiencing mental distress or dysfunction.

 

SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Provides clinical supervision to assigned non-licensed personnel. (if selected and licensing allows)

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

 

A minimum of a master’s degree in a behavior science field from an accredited University/College. State of Minnesota LP, LMFT, LICSW, or LPCC Licensure required.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:          

 

Provides all services in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Center and in accordance with applicable professional code of ethics. Provides individual, group, and family psychotherapy or skill building activities (within limits of experience and education background) including assessment treatment planning, treatment, referral, termination, and emergency/crisis intervention services, as indicated to meet the needs of clients, including addressing failure to appear clients before 3rd consecutive no-show visit.                                                                                                            Follows established policies and procedures pertaining to the maintenance of accurate and complete clinical records, including returning service logs on a daily basis and retrieving client records to file room on a daily basis. Presents cases in multi-disciplinary case consultation team meetings in a coherent, organized fashion.  Provides and requests appropriate support and assistance during the case consultation process.                                                                                                      Participates in Southwestern Mental Health Center, Inc. peer review utilization and quality assurance projects and procedures.                                                                                 Presents educational material (within limited of experience and expertise) in a variety of settings to promote community understanding and response to mental health, chemical dependency, and/or developmental disability issues.        

                                                           

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:    

 

Is sensitive and responsive to management needs, such as data collection, program evaluation, development of funding applications, completing credentialing paperwork in timely fashion, maintenance of various contracts for services, etc.                                        Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to travel to all SWMHC facilities in the catchment area, ambulate within and between departments; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.  The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.       Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

REQUIRED COMMUNICATION/MATHEMATICAL/REASONING SKILLS:

 

Must possess the required level of skills and abilities to read, write, speak, and apply mathematical concepts and sound reasoning to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this job. Must be able to perform basic operations on a computer within the Windows operating system. This position requires problem solving skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to multi-task.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

 

May be exposed to communicable diseases when working in a health care environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
