Mental Health Screener - PIP
POSITION SUMMARY
The Mental Health Screener is responsible for administering, planning, and coordinating the implementation of mental health crisis intervention to a diverse client population in order to stabilize the client's behavior to the appropriate functional level demonstrated prior to crisis. This position provides mental health evaluation and/or assessment data to determine the correct agency or inpatient facility to refer clients. This position provides appropriate outreach services as required. The Screener assists in developing and conducting various internal and community based training and education in order to satisfy regulatory requirements.   The Mental Health Screener delivers care in a prompt and professional manner, always maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and respect. The Screener works as part of the care team to meet the needs of the customer and to support departmental objectives. The Screener provides quality customer service, participates in performance improvements efforts and assumes responsibility for professional growth and development.   QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree is required with three years mental health experience, one of which includes a crisis setting.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Eligibility to attend NJ Basic Screening Certification course for Mental Health Screeners is required within 1 year from date of hire or transfer.
CPI within 6 months from date of hire or transfer.
Valid NJ Driver's License required.
EXPERIENCE: Applicant must be insurable by AtlantiCare's auto insurance carrier. Crisis Prevention Intervention annual education preferred. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the technical and behavioral competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. The Mental Health Screener must demonstrate the ability to conduct and administer outreach services in order to serve client population of a diverse age group with multiple developmental needs.   WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position requires considerable standing, reaching, and walking. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs is required. The essential functions for this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.   REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the Nursing Unit Leadership.
