Summary: + This role reports directly to the Clinical Manager of Nursing Support Services with indirect supervision of Behavioral Health leadership (Director of Behavioral Health, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Lead, Social Work Lead, and Licensed Behavioral Health Counselor). Provides child, adolescent, or adult therapeutic behavioral health support. Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment that enhances engagement in treatment, and/or educational effectiveness. May operate in all hospital care areas including (but not limited to) – Emergency Department, Inpatient (Med-Surg/Critical Care/Pediatrics) etc. Responsibilities: + Engages patients in activities of a therapeutic nature.Monitors behaviors of patients during engagement; collaborates with interdisciplinary team on specific patient risk reduction strategies.Participates in maintaining the therapeutic milieu of patients with behavioral health needs throughout the hospital; informs treatment team of changes in patient behavior and verbalizes concerns for patient safety.Participates in treatment plan meetings, rounds, etc. as appropriate.Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to develop and execute behavioral plans.Educates patient with regards to coping skills.Functions as a role model for patients at all times.Demonstrates knowledge of de-escalating techniques; appropriate physical intervention and management of aggressive behavior according to hospital protocols. Required to receive Verbal Judo & Handle with Care training.Respond to patient behavioral health emergencies.Maintains patient and related documentation in timely and accurate manner.Carries out general nursing assistance necessary in the treatment of patients as assigned.Performs other duties as assigned. Credentials: Education or Equivalent Experience: + H.S.
