**Description:**
Reporting to the director of the unit, the Mental Health Tech assists the RN, Social Worker, Psychiatrist and/or other mental health professionals in the performance of psychiatric patient care duties related to patients’ personal needs, comfort, and safety.

**Description:**
Reporting to the director of the unit, the Mental Health Tech assists the RN, Social Worker, Psychiatrist and/or other mental health professionals in the performance of psychiatric patient care duties related to patients’ personal needs, comfort, and safety.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Assists the RN, Social Worker, Psychiatrist and/or other mental health professionals in the performance of psychiatric patient care duties related to patients’ personal needs, comfort, and safety.
+ Conducts one-to-one interactions with patients, provides emotional support while observing and recording patient responses.
+ Performs or assists in crisis intervention by calming the patient or utilizing appropriate physical control techniques as outlined in hospital policies for such techniques.
+ Monitors the emotional conditions of patients & determining the need for interventions. Immediately secures assistance when patients status dictates the need for professional attention (RN, Social Worker, Psychiatrist)
+ Reports to Registered Nurse or other professional observations recorded during individual and group sessions; recommends for consideration alterations to the treatment plan.
**What you will need:**
+ High School Diploma and either college level training in behavioral science or previous experience in mental health required.
+ Current licensure by the Maryland State Board for Certified Nursing Assistant
+ BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association)
+ Certification as a Psychiatric Technician is preferred.
Pay Range: $17.89 – $23.85
Pay is based on experience, skills and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
