We are looking for an MEP Superintendent to help consistently deliver projects on time, on budget and that exceed client expectations. We provide our superintendents with the necessary support and resources to excel in their role and make sure all projects are completed to the highest standard. Our superintendents are an integral part of the project team and become involved with projects during the preconstruction phase. As a senior member of the team, superintendents are also responsible for assisting in the professional growth of team members and maintaining relationships with clients.

 

Responsibilities:

Work in partnership with project manager to identify and address issues of constructability or lack of scope during preconstruction phaseParticipate in development and final review of scope, buy-out and scheduleResearch, review and address any owner, landlord, city/state requirement or procedure to avoid project delays, ensure safety, and/or ensure client satisfactionDevelop comprehensive understanding of project strategy and commitments including financial goals, scheduling, logistics, phasing, milestones, inspectionsOversee all daily field operations to ensure proper site safety, construction, progress, quality control and a clean siteDrive coordination process on site from meetings to actual installationReview submittals, shop drawings and other product data to ensure proper materials are being installed on siteCoordinate MEP’s with architectural and structural elements to make sure systems work and end product is aesthetically pleasingWork with lead super to ensure trades are staying on overall project scheduleReview construction documents for MEPFP constructability issues.Monitor installation and start-up of MEP systemsCoordinate procurement and other activities with Project Manager and Project SuperintendentReview materials and equipment for MEPFP systems prior to installationWork with Shawmut Engineering Services Division regarding MEP Management, quality control, and virtual design and constructionWork in partnership with PM to maintain an updated and accurate project schedule that reflects the changes in project status and that meets the cost and time requirements of the projectExceed client expectations for each project by understanding client needs, wants, preferences and cultureDemonstrate and maintain effective and open dialogue with the project team regarding changes in work, job conditions, subcontractor relations and any deviation in the direction of the projectPromote positive subcontractor relations by dealing professionally and fairly with all subcontractors and vendors instilling this philosophy in project team at all timesMaintain and review punch list process to ensure all are addressed and executed in a timely manner.Actively participate in all company-wide training and development initiatives, also work with and mentor assistant superintendent, Shawmut labor and carpentry staffUphold Shawmut Values and 16 Best Practices Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer or AA/EOE Qualifications

Commutable distance to New York office

7+ years’ experience both in union and non-union environments

B.S. in Construction Management or Engineering a plus

Proven track record of meeting deadlines

Extensive knowledge of safety procedures and regulations

Experience in computer technology

Experience with 3d Modeling and coordination process a plus

Experience with marking up and editing PDFs with software products such as  Bluebeam a plus

Thorough knowledge of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Experience in supporting a rapidly growing organization around the complexities of executing work.

Ideal candidate will have experience in the academic environment. Additional experience with high end corporate tenant interiors, retail banking, out of the ground, renovation work in occupied and unoccupied environments, and in urban and suburban work locations of interest.

Travel within the New York Region to various job sites can be expected.

NYC Base Salary Range: $100,000 – $170,000  The range stated is specific to New York City.  Placement within the listed range depends on many factors including, but not limited to years of experience, project size capability (for Construction & Field roles) and internal company equity.
