Headquartered in London, the Brands have over 2 million customers across the globe through the ASOS platform and generate brand sales of c£200m. Following the formation of a Joint Venture between ASOS and HEARTLAND in October 2024, ASOS is creating a standalone cross-functional team within ASOS which is dedicated to unlocking the huge growth potential of the TOPSHOP and TOPMAN brands. The brands will now benefit from ASOS infrastructure and resources while enjoying the creative freedom and agility of standalone brands.
The next 12 months for TOPSHOP and TOPMAN will see the expansion of the brands’ offline and online retail presence with the launch of Topshop.com and new wholesale partnerships.
Job DescriptionMerchandisers are integral to the success of Topshop/ Topman. Buying is an imperfect science and the Merchandising team are there to aid the difficult decision-making process, whilst ensuring maximum profitability and relevancy for the Topshop/Topman customer, globally. Merchandisers are responsible for strategically driving the business through effective planning, range building and trading, working collaboratively with Buying, Sourcing, Design, Technical, Global Commerce and Marketing teams to achieve commercially successful outcomes for the department and wider business.
What you’ll be doing…
Working to deliver the planned sales and profitability of your department through effective planning and in-season tradingRegularly analysing department performance to maximise commercial opportunitiesWorking alongside your Buyer to ensure a commercial range is offered to the customer whilst ensuring both Topshop/ Topman’ and the Department strategy are adhered to, taking into account OTB, Options, price, ALB and global requirementsThrough strategic planning and trading of the department, managing the intake and OTB to deliver the stock requirements of the businessDeveloping and building strong relationships with suppliersProviding an appropriate level of data analysis and insights that can be shared with relevant teams to aid decision making and gain buy in for ideasRegularly meeting suppliers and brands for the department to ensure that key messages and movements in forecast are communicated clearly.Working collaboratively with supply base to innovate solutions and processes within production planning and critical path managementConstantly seeking opportunities to maximise both intake and profit margin against planDeveloping short term and long term department strategies with the Buyer to maximise department profit.Driving, adapting and adjusting department strategy in season based on trade performanceResolving issues that may arise and working collaboratively with Buying and other relevant teams to come up with effective solutionsReviews KPIs regularly to ensure that the BTA is realistic, highlighting changes to team and management.Demonstrating a global mindset, discussing and sharing opportunities and risks with other depts to influence global strategy and drive divisional performanceSeeking opportunities to improve ways of working and systems use to trade more effectively globally, sharing knowledge with the teamManaging and developing a high-performing team of AMs and MAs through regular 1:1s, honest and constructive feedback.
