Merchandising Assistant

Purpose and Summary

Under the direction of the General Manager, this position will be cross-trained to learn about grain buying, merchandising, hedging, and accounting of all Encompass Grain & Rail COOP grain activity.  They will assist in obtaining market sales values, providing grain bids to customers, and offer support with truck and rail logistics, and assist with direct and sales settlements.

Essential Job Duties

Follow all company safety policies and procedures

Adhere to Encompass Grain’s risk policy

Monitor reporting of bushel transactions at all Encompass Grain Facilities

Assist in corn, soybean and wheat originations

Review market information to enhance knowledge and understanding of grain markets

Gain a complete understanding of customer status in Agris in order to determine accurate contract balances and applications

Other Responsibilities

Maintain a high level of customer service with a positive and respectful attitude

Assist in bid sheet distribution and website updates

Contribute to grain accounting team processes

Must be able to work extended hours, especially during the harvest season

Qualifications

Normally requires 2-3 year of industry experience

Must have good personal and communication skills, in addition to organization and attention to detail

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
